Instacart Promo Codes & Ways to Cut Fees

An Instacart bill is store-set prices plus fees, taxes and tip. Instacart+ drops the delivery fee on $10+ orders, Costco members and some Chase cardholders pay less for it, pickup orders carry no service fee, and each storefront shows its pricing policy.

Does Instacart have promo codes?

Yes, but Instacart shares them by email or as banners in the app, and its terms say each code is for its intended audience, one per household, and can't be copied or transferred. On October 16, 2026 its own promos page listed free delivery on a new customer's first 3 orders and a 14-day Instacart+ trial rather than a public code. Add any code under Credits, promos, and gift cards or at checkout.[7, 8, 9, 28]

Our verdict

For regular delivery, Instacart+ at $99 a year or $9.99 a month removes the delivery fee on orders of $10 or more ($35 at Costco) — service fees still apply, while pickup orders have no service fee at all. Before paying full price, look for a cheaper way in: $79 a year for Costco members, 3 free months with an eligible Chase co-brand card, or $4.99 a month for a year after an EBT SNAP order. Cancel only before a shopper accepts your order, or you may pay a $15 fee.

Ways to save at Instacart

Ordered by what each is typically worth to a regular shopper — the biggest saving first.

  1. Get Instacart+ if you order delivery regularly

$0 delivery fee on orders of $10+Low effortRegular delivery customers

Instacart+ costs $99 a year or $9.99 a month and waives the delivery fee on grocery and retail orders of $10 or more per retailer, Costco orders of $35 or more and eligible restaurant orders of $25 or more. Twelve monthly payments add up to $119.88, so the annual plan is $20.88 cheaper if you keep it all year. It doesn't cover pickup or prescription orders, and service fees, taxes and tips still apply. One membership covers a family account of up to four people, and eligible members also get Peacock Premium, plus New York Times Cooking on the annual plan.[1, 2, 4, 5, 22]

    1. Open Your Instacart+ Membership in the app or on instacart.com.
    2. Start the 14-day free trial, which renews into the $99 annual plan unless you cancel.
    3. Add family members so their eligible orders get the $0 delivery fee too.
  2. Pay less for Instacart+ through Costco, a Chase card or EBT SNAP

$79/year, 3 free months or $4.99/monthLow effortCostco members, some Chase cardholders, EBT SNAP shoppers

Costco members who link their membership pay $79 a year for annual Instacart+, and those who haven't had any Instacart+ plan since January 1, 2022 also get 2 free months. Primary holders of eligible Chase co-brand cards — Marriott Bonvoy, Southwest Rapid Rewards, World of Hyatt, IHG One Rewards, and the British Airways, Aeroplan, Aer Lingus, Iberia and Disney consumer cards — get 3 free months and, while they keep Instacart+, a $10 credit each month for one order paid with that card, for activations through December 31, 2027; after the free months it renews at $99 a year. Anyone who placed an EBT SNAP order in the last 6 months can take monthly Instacart+ at $4.99 for 12 months, then $9.99.[11, 12, 13]

    1. Costco: add your member number under Loyalty cards in your account settings.
    2. Open Your Instacart+ Membership and look under Unlock special offers or Member exclusive offers.
    3. Redeem the offer — for the Chase one, pay with the card itself, since Apple Pay and Google Pay don't count.
  3. Use the new-customer delivery offer

$0 delivery fee on your first 3 ordersLow effortNew Instacart customers

New customers get a $0 delivery fee on their first three orders of $10 or more, each from one retailer. The first order has to be placed within 14 days of creating the account, and the rest of the offer expires 14 days after that first order. It covers the standard delivery fee only — not priority delivery — and service fees still apply. It's limited to one per household and excludes restaurant orders powered by Uber Eats.[9, 10]

  4. Pick up the order when you can collect it

No service feeSome effortAnyone near a store that offers pickup

Instacart says pickup orders have no service fee, with or without Instacart+. Some retailers charge a pickup fee instead — Instacart's equivalent of a delivery fee — and the Instacart+ $0 delivery fee doesn't apply to pickup. From time to time Instacart also offers select customers credit back on eligible pickup orders; if it's available it shows when you order, and the credit expires 12 months after that order.[4, 5, 20, 21]

    1. Pick a retailer that shows Pickup under its name.
    2. Choose Pickup and the location on the map before you shop.
    3. Check the fees and any Estimated credit back line at checkout.
  5. Clip the coupons and deals inside each storefront

Manufacturer coupons, BOGO and Stock Up & SaveLow effortAnyone filling a cart

The coupons on Instacart are manufacturer's coupons: tap the coupon box under an item and it applies when the item is in your cart. Buy One, Get One deals apply at checkout only when the right number of items is in the cart, and Stock Up & Save offers (spend a set amount on listed items, get a discount or a $0 delivery fee) sit on the retailer's store homepage. Instacart honors only coupons listed on its platform, so coupons from elsewhere don't count. At retailers that support it, linking your store loyalty card can carry over select member benefits, which show under Total Savings at checkout.[6, 7, 27]

Instacart promo codes

Codes and offers kept by David Jones, who keeps this guide's deals current.

Instacart shares its promo codes by email or as banners in the app, and its terms limit each code to its intended audience and one per household, so we don't list codes here. What instacart.com offers publicly — such as the $0 delivery fee on a new customer's first 3 orders — is covered in the ways to save above.

We don't list Instacart codes

Instacart's codes are personal, and its rules don't allow sites like ours to publish them — so this guide sticks to the savings above, which work without one.

The rules that decide what you pay

What Instacart says about order cancellation, missing or damaged items, returns, Instacart+ cancellation and refunds, fees and promotions and credits — the details that turn a good deal into a bad one, or the other way round.

Order cancellation

Free until a shopper accepts the order; up to $15 after.

Cancel from Your orders > Help before a shopper accepts; afterwards a $15 cancellation fee may apply, and once shopping has started you have to contact support. Rescheduling is free until shopping begins, up to seven days after the original date, though you may pay any difference in delivery fees. Cakes, deli items, catering, party platters and holiday meal bundles can't be cancelled or moved inside the retailer's cutoff, typically 24–48 hours before the scheduled time.[16]

Missing or damaged items

Report within 3 days for a refund or credit.

Use Get help or Report a problem on the order within three days of delivery or pickup; Instacart can refund or credit up to what you paid for the item, or part of it if only part was missing or damaged. Report within 24 hours and you may get a same-day refund, which shows up as a smaller original charge rather than a separate line on your statement. Restaurant orders follow a separate process, and EBT SNAP items can only be refunded, not credited.[17, 18]

Returns

Each retailer sets the rules; service fees aren't refunded.

Returns follow the store's own policy, and some retailers don't accept Instacart returns at all. An approved return can come back to your card, as Instacart credit or as store credit; in-store returns need your digital Instacart receipt and the same payment card. If the item was bought with a coupon, the coupon's value is taken off the refund.[4, 19]

Instacart+ cancellation and refunds

Cancel any time; money back only in a narrow window.

Annual fees are refunded only if you cancel within the first 5 calendar days of a paid term or renewal and haven't used Instacart+ in that time; monthly fees are never refunded, but benefits run to the end of the paid period. Cancel a free trial before it ends and you aren't charged. Renewal charges can be taken up to 6 hours early.[3, 4]

Fees

Delivery and service fees change with the store, the slot and the cart.

Every delivery order must reach $10, and the delivery fee depends on the retailer, the delivery window and the order total; the service fee varies with location and the number and type of items, isn't a tip, and changes when items are refunded or replaced. Instacart's terms add that fees can also vary with demand, and a long-distance fee can apply when the route takes 15+ minutes or includes a toll. If a priority order arrives more than 30 minutes after its window, Instacart may credit or refund the priority fee.[4, 5]

Promotions and credits

One promotion per order, with few exceptions.

Only $0 delivery fee promotions and select promo codes combine with other promotions; you can see and swap the applied offer under Offers and promo codes at checkout. Credits and promotions can't pay for fees, taxes, tips, alcohol, prescriptions, Instacart+ fees or restaurant orders. A promotion drops off if refunds or replacements take the order below its minimum.[7]

5 catches in the fine print

Watch out for

Where shoppers lose the saving they thought they had.

  1. Instacart+ doesn't remove the service fee

The membership waives the delivery fee only. Service fees, priority fees, long-distance and bag fees, taxes and tips still apply, and it doesn't promise faster delivery or better time slots.[2, 4]

  2. A replacement can cost you the coupon

If your shopper swaps a coupon item for one that doesn't qualify, the discount is lost. Set replacement preferences for coupon items before the order is shopped.[7]

  3. Ordering or activating NYT Cooking ends the refund window

The 5-day refund on an annual Instacart+ fee only applies if you haven't placed an order with Instacart+ — and activating the New York Times Cooking subscription also makes the fee non-refundable.[3, 23]

  4. Not answering the shopper can cost $15

Shoppers wait 3 minutes before leaving an order at your door, but orders with alcohol, prescriptions or certified delivery items can't be left. If the shopper can't find or reach you, the order may be cancelled and a $15 fee charged.[24]

  5. The app price may not be the shelf price

Retailers set Instacart prices, some set them differently from their in-store prices, and some in-store sales may not apply. Check the pricing policy under the store's logo — such as Everyday Store Prices — and note that sales tax can be worked out on an item's price before the coupon.[4, 6]

Yes, but Instacart shares them by email or as banners in the app, and its terms say each code is for its intended audience, one per household, and can't be copied or transferred. $99 a year or $9.99 a month, with a 14-day free trial that renews into the annual plan unless you cancel. Costco members who link their membership pay $79 a year, and recent EBT SNAP customers can pay $4.99 a month for their first 12 months.[1, 11, 13]

New customers get a $0 delivery fee on their first three orders of $10 or more. After that, Instacart+ waives the delivery fee on orders of $10 or more ($35 at Costco). In both cases service fees still apply.[5, 10]

It depends on the retailer: stores set their own Instacart prices, and some price items differently than on the shelf, while some in-store sales may not apply. Each storefront shows its pricing policy under the logo, so check it before you shop.[4, 6]

Yes — free until a shopper accepts it, from Your orders > Help > Cancel order. After a shopper accepts, a $15 cancellation fee may apply, and custom items like cakes or deli platters can't be cancelled inside the retailer's cutoff.[16]

Report the problem on the order within three days of delivery or pickup and pick a refund or credit, up to what you paid for the item. Reports made within 24 hours may get a same-day refund.[17, 18]

Yes, at participating stores in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., for SNAP-eligible items; EBT cash isn't accepted. You also need a debit or credit card on the account for fees, taxes, tips and non-eligible items.[14, 15]

On the annual plan, only if you cancel within the first 5 calendar days of a paid term and haven't used Instacart+. Monthly fees aren't refunded, but your benefits last until the end of the period you paid for.[3, 4]

Yes. A friend you refer gets up to $40 in credit across their first two orders, each of $35 or more, and you get $10 once their delivery is complete; amounts can vary. Referrals can't go to your own household, and Washington state residents can't take part.[25, 26]
