Hilton Promo Codes & Member Rates

Hilton's discounts are rate plans you choose when you book: the free Honors member rate, prepaid Advance Purchase, and AAA, senior and military rates. On top: a Price Match Guarantee worth an extra 25% off the room rate, and points that pay for whole nights.

Does Hilton have promo codes?

Hilton's search has a Promotion code box in its Special rates menu, but the discounts it advertises publicly are rate plans — Honors Discount Advance Purchase, AAA, Senior and Military Family rates and the packages on its Offers page — which you pick when you book. Rates you can only see with a code don't count for the Price Match Guarantee.[1, 4, 5]

Our verdict

Join Hilton Honors for free and book on hilton.com or the Hilton Honors app: members get the Hilton Honors Discount, from 2% off eligible rates, while stays booked on third-party sites earn no points at all. If your dates are fixed, the prepaid Honors Advance Purchase rate is advertised at up to 17% off but can't be refunded, and if a lower qualifying price turns up within 24 hours of booking, the Price Match Guarantee matches it and takes an extra 25% off the room rate.

Ways to save at Hilton

Ordered by what each is typically worth to a regular shopper — the biggest saving first.

  1. Join Hilton Honors and book direct

Member rate from 2% off, plus pointsLow effortAnyone — there are no requirements to join

Hilton Honors is free, and members can book the Hilton Honors Discount, which starts at 2% off the eligible rate and depends on the booking window, region, day of the week and other factors. It doesn't apply to every rate, covers up to four rooms per stay and can't be combined with other offers. Members also earn 10 Base Points per $1 at most brands (5 at Homewood Suites, Home2 Suites, Spark, Tru, Apartment Collection and YOTEL) — but stays booked through third-party websites earn nothing, whatever the rate.[1, 3]

    1. Join on hilton.com or in the Hilton Honors app.
    2. Sign in before you search, then choose the Hilton Honors Discount rate.
    3. Booking by phone? Ask for the "Hilton Honors Discount".
  2. Claim the Price Match Guarantee within 24 hours

The lower price, then 25% off the room rateSome effortDirect bookings — Honors membership isn't needed

Book directly (hilton.com, the app, a Hilton call center or the hotel), then look for the same room, view, dates, guests and cancellation terms on other sites. If a publicly bookable price is at least 1% lower, submit a claim within 24 hours of booking; if approved, Hilton matches it and takes an additional 25% off the room rate for the whole stay. Hilton compares prices without taxes and leaves resort or destination fees out, but counts the other site's booking fees. Member-only, AAA or AARP, corporate and package rates, and prices that need a login or code to see, don't qualify.[4]

    1. Book your stay directly with Hilton.
    2. Compare the identical room and booking terms on other sites.
    3. Submit the claim from Hilton's Price Match Guarantee page within 24 hours.
  3. Prepay with Honors Advance Purchase when your dates are fixed

Up to 17% off the Best Available RateLow effortHonors members booking at least 7 days ahead

Hilton's offer page advertises up to 17% off its Best Available Rate for members who book at least 7 days in advance; the terms say the discount varies by hotel and commonly runs from 7% to 22%. The full stay is charged at booking and isn't refundable, the rate is limited to two rooms per member, and it must be booked through Hilton's own channels. Look for the "Honors Advance Purchase" rate when you search.[6]

  4. Check AAA, senior and military rates under Special rates

Up to 10% (AAA) or up to 6% (65+) offLow effortAAA/CAA members, guests 65+, military families

The Special rates menu in Hilton's search lists AAA, senior, and government and military rates. AAA/CAA members save up to 10%, or up to 17% off the Best Available Rate with a prepaid, non-refundable AAA rate booked 7+ days ahead. The Senior Rate takes up to 6% off for guests 65 and older, and the Military Family Rate covers US and Canadian active-duty, reserve and retired service members and their families. Senior and military rates are for leisure stays and need proof at check-in; government travelers with valid ID can book per diem rates.[1, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10]

  5. Pay with points, or mix in cash with Points & Money

Free nights, without resort fees on all-points staysSome effortMembers with a points balance

Reward nights can be paid entirely in points or with Points & Money, which starts at 5,000 points and goes up in 1,000-point steps, with no blackout dates; reward prices move with the hotel, demand and the room rate. Paying 100% points means no resort fees. From Silver status up, an all-points Standard Room Reward stay of five nights or more makes every 5th night free — base members don't get this.[2, 3, 17]

    1. Search while signed in and select View Rates on a hotel.
    2. Tick Use Points & Money next to Special Rates.
    3. Use the Points and Money slider on the payment page, or leave it for all points.

Hilton's public discounts are rate plans you pick when you book — from its Offers page or the Special rates menu, which also has a Promotion code box. We list only offers and codes Hilton itself shows on hilton.com, with their terms.

6 rules · hilton.com, United States

The rules that decide what you pay

What Hilton says about cancellation, refunds, Advance Purchase, reward stay cancellation, rate types and resort fees — the details that turn a good deal into a bad one, or the other way round.

Cancellation

Free within the hotel's deadline; a late fee may apply after it.

Cancellation policies depend on the rate type, the dates and the hotel. You can cancel at no cost within the hotel's cancellation window; after the cancellation date, a late cancellation fee that varies by hotel may be charged. The deadline appears under the stay dates in View/Edit Stay, or under Rate details & policies in the app.[12]

Refunds

Deposits are refunded by the hotel, which can take up to 30 days.

If you paid a deposit, the hotel that took it processes your refund, and timing varies by hotel. Hilton charges your card up front only for Advance Purchase stays and stays that need a deposit; it also charges bookings cancelled after the deadline, while cancelling within the policy costs nothing.[12, 15]

Advance Purchase

Prepaid, with no refunds for changes, cancellation or no-shows.

For stays in the US, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean, you can ask to cancel and rebook into a new Advance Purchase reservation by calling the Advance Purchase Department at least three days before check-in. The original stay is refunded minus a $50 service fee (Waldorf Astoria, Conrad, Hilton, Curio, Canopy, Tapestry, Tru, Embassy Suites, DoubleTree) or $25 (Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton, Homewood Suites, Home2 Suites), and the refund can take up to four weeks.[6]

Reward stay cancellation

Cancel 48 hours before arrival unless the hotel sets its own rule.

Reward stays are guaranteed with a credit card. Hilton's general policy is 48 hours' notice, but a hotel's own policy takes over where it differs; a late cancellation or no-show costs the hotel's fee, or one night's room and tax at its Best Available Rate if none is set. Cancelling also forfeits any 5th night free.[3]

Rate types

Flexible rates follow the hotel's standard cancellation policy.

The Best Available Rate, also called the Flexible rate, is Hilton's unrestricted published rate. Non-Refundable rates need full prepayment, and discounted rates such as the Senior Rate and Military Family Rate can carry their own deposit, blackout and cancellation restrictions by hotel.[8, 9, 13]

Resort fees

Set by each hotel and left out of quoted rates.

Hilton's quoted rates exclude taxes, gratuities, incidental charges and resort fees where a hotel has them. Each hotel's fee is listed under Rooms and suites on that hotel's website, and what it includes under Hotel policies. All-points reward stays don't pay it.[2, 3, 14]

5 catches in the fine print

Watch out for

Where shoppers lose the saving they thought they had.

  1. Third-party bookings earn no points

Hilton's terms list stays booked on third-party websites as ineligible for points, whatever rate you paid. Hilton also can't change those bookings — you have to go back to the site you booked with.[3, 16]

  2. The 5th night free isn't a base-member perk

It starts at Silver status — 10 nights, 4 stays or $2,500 of eligible spend in a calendar year. It also applies only to all-points Standard Room Reward stays, not Points & Money or paid stays.[2, 3]

  3. A 10% package can carry a 7-day deadline

Stay Longer & Save takes 10% off the Best Available Rate on 3 to 6 nights at participating US hotels, but those bookings are subject to a 7-day cancellation policy. Note that deadline before you choose it over a flexible rate.[11]

  4. A price match needs the lower price still live

Hilton must be able to see the cheaper rate when it reviews your claim; screenshots can't be used to approve it. If you check in before the review, your booking stays as it was.[4]

  5. Points expire after 24 months of no activity

Stay, earn, buy or donate points at least once in any 24-month period, or the whole balance is forfeited and can't be recovered.[3]

Hilton savings FAQ

Hilton's search has a Promotion code box in its Special rates menu, but the discounts it advertises publicly are rate plans — Honors Discount Advance Purchase, AAA, Senior and Military Family rates and the packages on its Offers page — which you pick when you book. Rates you can only see with a code don't count for the Price Match Guarantee.[1, 4, 5]

Yes. There's nothing to qualify for, and you can sign up online or in the Hilton Honors app. Members can book the Hilton Honors Discount and earn 10 Base Points per $1 at most brands.[1, 3]

Yes — the Military Family Rate, for US and Canadian active-duty, reserve and retired service members and their families, on leisure stays at participating hotels. Bring a valid military ID to check-in; government travelers can also book per diem rates with government ID.[9, 10]

Guests 65 and older can book the Senior Rate, up to 6% off the Best Available Rate at participating hotels. It's limited to two rooms, the second for family members, and you'll need proof of age at check-in.[8]

AAA/CAA members save up to 10%. A prepaid AAA rate booked at least seven days ahead goes up to 17% off the Best Available Rate, but it's non-refundable.[7]

Each hotel sets it, and it depends on the rate: cancel within the hotel's window and it's free, after it a late fee may apply. Advance Purchase rates can't be refunded, and reward stays follow a general 48-hour rule unless the hotel's own policy differs.[3, 6, 12]

Yes. If you booked directly and find the same room and terms at least 1% cheaper on another publicly bookable site, claim within 24 hours: Hilton matches the price and takes another 25% off the room rate.[4]

Silver, Gold, Diamond and Diamond Reserve members booking a Standard Room Reward stay of five nights or more with all points pay no points for every 5th night, up to four free nights in a 20-night stay. It doesn't apply to Points & Money stays or to base members.[2, 3]

Not when the stay is paid entirely with points — Hilton waives resort fees on all-points reward stays. Paid stays at hotels with a resort fee are quoted without it, so check the hotel page for the amount.[2, 3, 14]
