H&M Promo Codes & Ways to Pay Less

At H&M the everyday savings start with the free membership: a lower free-shipping threshold, points that turn into $5 rewards, and member offers. Add the site-wide offers, the student discount and free in-store returns.

Does H&M have promo codes?

H&M announces site-wide offers in the banner at the top of hm.com, adds member offers and rewards to your account, and has a 10% student discount through Student Beans. Each has its own terms, and most can't be combined with other offers.[1, 5, 6]

Our verdict

Join the free membership before you check out — members get free shipping over $50 instead of $75 and earn a $5 reward for every 250 points. Check the banner at the top of hm.com for the current site-wide offer, and return in store rather than by mail: mail-in returns cost $5.99.

Ways to save at H&M

Ordered by what each is typically worth to a regular shopper — the biggest saving first.

  1. Join the free membership before you buy

Free shipping from $50, member pricesLow effortAnyone 16 or older

H&M's membership is free and works online and in stores. Members get free standard shipping on orders over $50 — $25 less than everyone else needs to spend — plus member prices, partner promotions and early access to shopping events, and they earn 1 point for every $1 spent.[1, 2]

    1. Sign up on hm.com or in the H&M app — you need to be 16 or older.
    2. Sign in before you check out online, so member shipping and prices apply.
    3. In stores, scan your member ID in the H&M app so the purchase earns points.
  2. Collect member rewards: points and old clothes

$5 per 250 points, 15% for old clothesLow effortRegular H&M shoppers

Every 250 points brings a $5 reward, added to your account 30 days after you reach it; points come from everything you buy except gift cards and charity items. Members also get a 15% off reward for dropping off old clothes in store. Reach 500 points and you move up to Plus, with early access to drops and sales and extra member offers. Points reset at the end of each membership year, which starts on the day you joined.[1]

  3. Check the banner at the top of hm.com

Whatever the current offer takes offLow effortAnyone shopping online

H&M announces its site-wide offers in the banner at the top of hm.com — in October 2026, 15% off $100 or 20% off $125. Read the terms under View T&Cs: that offer excluded sale items, furniture and lamps, H&M Studio and designer collaborations, and couldn't be combined with other offers except one $5 Member Bonus Reward. If a valid promotion didn't apply at checkout, customer service may be able to add it afterwards.[4, 6]

  4. Students: verify once for 10% off

10% off full-price itemsLow effortStudents in the US

H&M's student discount, run through Student Beans, takes 10% off full-price items online once you've verified you're a student. Members can combine it with one Bonus reward, but not with other discounts, designer collaborations or select special collections, and it doesn't apply to gift cards or shipping.[5]

    1. Open the student discount page linked from hm.com and create a free Student Beans account.
    2. Verify your student status.
    3. Reveal your code and enter it at checkout on hm.com.
  5. Take your refund as a Merchandise Card if you'll shop again

A 10% discount rewardLow effortOnline returns sent back by mail

When you register an online return that goes back to the warehouse, you can choose an H&M Merchandise Card instead of a refund to your card. It's emailed within a day of your return being processed, and H&M adds a 10% discount reward to your account. The option isn't available for Klarna payments.[3]

6 rules · hm.com, United States

The rules that decide what you pay

What H&M says about shipping, returns, final sale, refunds, promotions and order changes — the details that turn a good deal into a bad one, or the other way round.

Shipping

Free over $50 for members, over $75 for everyone else.

Below that, standard shipping (3–6 business days) costs $6.99; express is $14.99 and next-day $24.99. Ship to Store is free, and same-day pickup is free at select stores. H&M HOME furniture, shelving, lighting and rugs ship by standard shipping only, within the continental US.[2]

Returns

30 days, with tags attached and a receipt.

Return for free in any US H&M store (except in Puerto Rico), or by mail through the Returns Portal — $5.99 is deducted from every mail-in return. Items must be unworn, unwashed and undamaged with labels attached, and online returns must be postmarked within 30 days of delivery. In-store pickup orders can only be returned in stores; H&M HOME items bought online only by mail.[3]

Final sale

Some items can't be returned at all.

Bodysuits, hosiery, underwear (except bras), swimwear without its hygienic seal (except bikini tops), opened cosmetics, earrings, items marked Final Sale, red-sticker sale items bought in store, Pre-Loved purchases and gift cards. Items bought with a discount code or in a site-wide promotion follow the normal policy unless they're marked Final Sale.[3]

Refunds

To your original payment, within about two weeks.

Refunds go back to the original payment method — allow up to 14 days. Purchases made with an H&M gift card, or returned with a gift receipt, are refunded as merchandise credit. A Bonus voucher isn't reissued after a return: its value is spread across the items, so each refund is what you paid for that item.[1, 3]

Promotions

No price adjustments outside a promotion's dates.

If you couldn't add a valid promotion at checkout, H&M may be able to add it afterwards. It doesn't price match between stores and hm.com, and won't honor a promotional price for purchases made outside the promotion period.[4]

Order changes

Cancel quickly or not at all.

An order can't be changed once it's confirmed. For a short time a Cancel Order button appears under My Purchases in your account; once it's gone, processing has started and you'll need to return the items instead.[4]

5 catches in the fine print

Watch out for

Where shoppers lose the saving they thought they had.

  1. Mail-in returns cost $5.99

The fee is taken off your refund for every return sent by mail. Returning online orders in a US H&M store is free.[3]

  2. A used reward doesn't come back

A redeemed discount reward can't be returned and reused, and points earned on an item you return are taken off your account.[1]

  3. Points reset every membership year

Points are valid for the membership year that starts on the day you joined; at the end of it they reset. Plus status, once reached, lasts for the rest of that year and the next.[1]

  4. Use in Store starts a 15-minute clock

Choosing Use in Store for a Bonus voucher starts a 15-minute countdown in which it has to be used — open it at the till, not on the way in.[1]

  5. Your membership only works in the US

H&M's membership is country-specific, so US points and rewards can't be used at H&M abroad.[1]
