Grammarly Promo & Discount Codes: What Works

Grammarly says it doesn't issue coupon codes, so savings come from how you pay: a Free plan with no time limit, Pro billed yearly at $12 a month rather than $30, and, as of October 17, 2026, half off Pro via SheerID for students, educators and other groups.

Does Grammarly have promo codes?

No. Grammarly's help center says it doesn't give discounts as coupons or codes, and that a promo code found online isn't a Grammarly offer. Its discounts come as promo links instead, through SheerID for groups such as students and the military, or in occasional special-offer emails.[4, 6]

Our verdict

Stay on Grammarly Free while it covers what you write, since it has no time limit, and if you move up to Pro, pay for the year: $144, or $12 a month on average, against $30 on monthly billing. On October 17, 2026 Grammarly's help center also listed 50% off Pro through SheerID for students, educators, military members, first responders, healthcare workers, seniors and young adults, a rate that lasts one billing period before Pro renews at the standard price.

Ways to save at Grammarly

Ordered by what each is typically worth to a regular shopper — the biggest saving first.

  1. Start on Grammarly Free

$0, with no time limitLow effortAnyone who mainly needs spelling and grammar checks

Grammarly's help center says you can use Grammarly Free for as long as you want and upgrade whenever you choose. Free corrects mistakes, shows your writing tone and includes 100 text-generation prompts a month; Pro adds full-sentence rewrites, tone adjustments, plagiarism checks, detection of generated text and 2,000 prompts. If the free checks are all you reach for, there's nothing to buy.[3, 11]

    1. Create a free account at grammarly.com.
    2. Install Grammarly for Windows or Mac, or use the Grammarly Editor in your browser.
    3. Upgrade only when you keep wanting a feature that's marked Pro.
  2. Pay for a year instead of month by month

$12 a month instead of $30Low effortAnyone planning to keep Pro for a year

Grammarly Pro costs $30 a month, $60 every three months or $144 a year per member, and the annual price works out to $12 a month on average; Grammarly's plan picker labels yearly billing Save up to 60%. Twelve monthly payments add up to $360, so paying for the year up front costs $216 less. To switch an existing plan, use Update plan on your Subscription page: the new subscription is charged from your next billing cycle.[1, 2, 21]

  3. Qualify through SheerID for half off Pro

50% off, worth up to $72Some effortStudents, educators, military, first responders, healthcare workers, seniors 60+, ages 18–25

On October 17, 2026 Grammarly's help center listed 50% off Grammarly Pro for people who qualify through SheerID, saving up to $72, which is half the $144 annual price and the top of the range. The student version, which Grammarly calls a limited-time offer, applies to any Pro plan. SheerID may ask for an official document and can take up to seven business days; once you're approved, a promo link arrives by email, and you can upgrade with any email address. The rate covers one subscription period and the first seat only.[5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10]

    1. Open the SheerID form for your group from Grammarly's promo offers help page.
    2. Submit your details, plus a document if SheerID asks for one.
    3. Use the promo link from verify@sheerid.com to upgrade on the web, not through the App Store or Google Play.
  4. Check whether your school already has a license

Advanced features through your schoolLow effortStudents and staff at schools with Grammarly for Education

Some schools hold a Grammarly for Education license. If yours uses an identity provider such as Okta, Microsoft Entra ID or Google Workspace, sign in to Grammarly through it; otherwise sign up with your school email address at grammarly.com/enterprise/signup, and if your school has a license you'll be prompted to join it and get its advanced features. No prompt? Grammarly points you to your school's administration or IT support, which is worth asking before you pay for Pro yourself.[12]

  5. Opt in to Grammarly's special-offer emails

Occasional promotional ratesLow effortAnyone who can wait before upgrading

Grammarly says it gives some of its email subscribers discounts through occasional promotional offers, and you can switch on its special-offer emails on your account's Profile page. As with every Grammarly promo, the rate lasts one subscription period and can't be combined with another offer or applied to something you've already bought.[4]

No public codes

Grammarly discount codes

Codes and offers kept by David Jones, who would list a code here only if the store published one.

Grammarly says it doesn't give discounts as coupons or codes and that a promo code found online isn't a Grammarly offer, so we list none. Its discounts arrive as promo links instead: from SheerID once you qualify, or in Grammarly's own special-offer emails.

Grammarly doesn't use public promo codes

So there's no code to list here. The ways to save above are how Grammarly's discounts work.

6 rules · grammarly.com, United States

The rules that decide what you pay

What Grammarly says about billing, cancellation, refunds, free trial, promotional rates and seats and family members — the details that turn a good deal into a bad one, or the other way round.

Billing

Paid in advance and renewed automatically for the same length.

Pro is charged monthly, quarterly or yearly on the date you bought it, or on the last day of a month that doesn't have that date. Each period renews for the same length at Grammarly's then-current fees unless you cancel first, and fee changes are announced in advance and apply from the next billing cycle. Stated prices don't include taxes.[13, 18, 24]

Cancellation

Cancel at any time; Pro stays on until the period ends.

Sign in, open Account, then Your account → Subscription, and click Cancel Subscription; on a phone, use account.grammarly.com. Cancelling stops the automatic renewal, you keep the paid features until the current billing period ends, and the account then turns into a Free one. App Store subscriptions are cancelled with Apple, and if you're on a Superhuman plan, cancelling through your Grammarly account applies across every Superhuman app.[15, 18]

Refunds

Only where the law requires one.

Grammarly's Terms of Service make payments non-refundable to the fullest extent the law allows, with no refunds or credits for partly used periods. If you were charged by mistake or billed in error, submit a support request and Grammarly reviews the case; refunds for App Store purchases go through Apple.[13, 17, 18]

Free trial

Offered periodically, with an email reminder before it ends.

Grammarly runs Pro trials from time to time and shows the option on its website when one is available; the plans page in US dollars, as archived on October 16, 2026, offered Pro for $0.00 with an email reminder 2 days before the trial ends. On a seven-day free trial Grammarly says you aren't charged before it ends, and a pending amount on your card is a temporary check of the payment method. Cancelling ends the trial straight away and moves you to Free, with your documents kept.[3, 16, 19, 20]

Promotional rates

One subscription period, first seat only.

Any promo rate, the SheerID discounts included, lasts one subscription period, after which the plan renews at the standard rate. It covers only the first seat, so extra members pay the standard price, and it can't be combined with other offers, applied to earlier purchases or used on App Store or Google Play purchases.[4, 13]

Seats and family members

No family plan; each added person pays the seat rate.

Grammarly has no dedicated family plan, but a Pro subscriber can invite family members or colleagues to the same subscription, which takes up to 149 seats. Each extra seat costs the standard rate of $30 a month, $60 a quarter or $144 a year, prorated for the time left in the current period, and the whole plan is billed as one payment.[1, 22, 23]

5 catches in the fine print

Watch out for

Where shoppers lose the saving they thought they had.

  1. Cancelling a trial ends it immediately

Grammarly ends a free trial the moment you cancel it rather than at the end date, so cancelling on the first day gives up the rest of the trial. The plans page promises an email reminder 2 days before the trial ends; decide then.[3, 16]

  2. The discount doesn't carry into the renewal

A promo rate, SheerID discounts included, covers a single subscription period, and Grammarly's help center names the switch to the standard rate as a reason a renewal costs more than the first charge. On a discounted annual plan, the second year is billed at the standard rate, $144 when we read the pricing page.[1, 6, 14]

  3. Codes found online aren't Grammarly's

Grammarly says it doesn't provide discounts as coupons or codes, and that a promo code found online isn't a promotional offer from Grammarly. Its real discounts arrive as promo links, from SheerID or from Grammarly's own emails.[4, 6]

  4. Unused time isn't refunded

Cancelling stops the next charge but not the current one, and refunds are given only where the law requires them. If you don't want another month, quarter or year, cancel before your renewal date.[15, 17, 18]

  5. App Store and Google Play purchases play by other rules

Grammarly's discounts can't be used on App Store or Google Play purchases, the plan sold there is Grammarly Premium rather than Pro, and App Store subscriptions are cancelled and refunded through Apple. Buy on grammarly.com if you want a discount to apply.[4, 15, 17, 22]

From time to time. Grammarly shows the option on its website when a Pro trial is available; the plans page archived on October 16, 2026 offered one with an email reminder 2 days before it ends. Cancelling ends the trial at once and returns you to Free.[3, 16, 19]

Sign in, go to Account, then Your account → Subscription, click Cancel Subscription and confirm with a reason. You keep the paid features until the current period ends; subscriptions bought in the App Store are cancelled through Apple.[15]

Only where the law requires one, under Grammarly's Terms of Service, and there's no refund or credit for a partly used period. If you were charged in error, submit a support request; for App Store purchases, ask Apple.[13, 17, 18]

Not a dedicated one. You can add family members to a Pro subscription instead, each at the standard seat rate of $30 a month, $60 a quarter or $144 a year, prorated when they join partway through a period.[23]
