Office Depot Coupons, Promo Codes & Rewards

Office Depot OfficeMax Rewards is free and pays 2% back, plus $2 for each empty ink or toner cartridge handed in during a month with a $10 purchase. Add a 14-day price match against Amazon, Staples and Walmart, and free local delivery on $35 orders.

Does Office Depot have coupon codes?

Yes. Office Depot links its current coupons and free-gift offers from a Coupon Center on officedepot.com, and online you enter a code in the Add Coupon field in your cart. Technology and electronics can be ineligible, so check that your other items reach the coupon's minimum.[21, 22, 26]

Our verdict

Join the free Rewards program and keep your member number on every receipt: it returns 2% on almost everything as certificates, plus $2 per empty ink or toner cartridge (up to 10 a month) in any month you also spend $10. If Staples, Amazon, Walmart, Target or Best Buy sells the same item for less — at checkout or within 14 days after — Office Depot matches the price or refunds the difference. Teachers and military families get a 20% off coupon and 25% back in rewards on qualifying online orders once ID.me confirms their status.

Ways to save at Office Depot

Ordered by what each is typically worth to a regular shopper — the biggest saving first.

  1. Join Rewards and get every purchase onto your account

2% back, paid as certificatesLow effortEveryone

Office Depot OfficeMax Rewards costs nothing and pays 2% back in stores and online on almost every item, technology and furniture included — but not on Marketplace items, delivery fees, postage, gift cards, or tech, furniture and third-party services. Rewards are counted on what you pay after discounts and before tax, and arrive as a certificate once you've earned $3. Each approved product review adds $2 in bonus rewards, up to 3 reviews a month.[1, 2, 3, 4]

    1. Create an officedepot.com account and join Rewards.
    2. Check that your member number is on each receipt; a purchase that missed it can be added as a missing visit.
    3. Click Apply next to a certificate at online checkout, or show the digital certificate to the cashier in store.
  2. Hand in empty ink and toner cartridges at the register

$2 per cartridge, up to 10 a monthLow effortRewards members with a printer

Take empty cartridges of any brand to the cash register in an Office Depot or OfficeMax store: free and VIP members get $2 back per cartridge, Select members $3, for up to 10 cartridges a month. The rewards only come through in a month when you also make a $10 qualifying purchase — counted after discounts and without tax, delivery, stamps or gift cards — and they post the day after that purchase. Damaged cartridges aren't accepted.[5, 13]

  3. Show a lower competitor price, even after you've paid

The lower price, or the difference backSome effortNew, identical, in-stock items

Office Depot matches Staples, Target, Walmart, Best Buy and Amazon.com, plus FedEx Office and The UPS Store on copy and custom printing jobs, at the time of purchase or within 14 days after, matching the price or refunding the difference. Its stores and officedepot.com also match each other. It compares its own final price after coupons and instant savings with the competitor's price after their instant savings and coupons, and allows one match per identical item per customer.[6, 7]

    1. In store, show the competitor's ad, shelf sign, receipt or the online offer on your phone, with the price and model number.
    2. For officedepot.com orders, call 1-800-463-3768 or start a chat with the same proof.
    3. For copy and print jobs, bring the competitor's printed quote.
  4. Teachers and military: confirm your status with ID.me

20% off one purchase, 25% back onlineLow effortTeachers, service members, veterans and their families

Once ID.me confirms you, Office Depot emails a coupon for 20% off one qualifying purchase — it says the email typically arrives within 24–48 hours — and the coupon terms on Office Depot's military page show it expiring December 31, 2026. On top of that, qualifying officedepot.com orders earn 25% back in Bonus Rewards instead of 2% through December 26, 2026, capped at $100 in rewards a week and not combined with the VIP 5%. In stores, military customers show a military, dependent or veteran ID when they pay.[8, 9, 10]

    1. Log in to your officedepot.com Rewards account and open the teacher or military page.
    2. Complete the ID.me check for teachers or for the military.
    3. Stay logged in to that same account when you order, so the coupon and bonus rewards apply.
  5. Buying $500 a year or more? Weigh VIP and Select

5% back on ink and paper, free deliverySome effortHome offices and small businesses

Spend $500 within 365 days and VIP status starts 30 days later for 12 months: 5% back on ink, toner, paper and copy-and-print services, free two-business-day delivery with no minimum, and a birthday offer. Select costs $49 a year and adds up to 15% off thousands of products, 10% off copy and print, and a $50 coupon for print, pack-and-ship or computer services when you join. Returns and certificate redemptions don't count toward the $500.[1, 11, 12, 13]

Office Depot coupon codes

Codes and offers kept by David Jones, who lists only codes the store makes public.

Office Depot links its current coupons from the Coupon Center on officedepot.com, and codes go in the cart's Add Coupon field. We list only coupons Office Depot shows publicly there, each with its end date — never member-only, ID.me or emailed codes.

No public code we could confirm right now

We would rather show nothing than a code that fails at checkout. The ways to save above work without one.

6 rules · officedepot.com, United States

The rules that decide what you pay

What Office Depot says about delivery, store pickup, returns, returns without a receipt, price match and coupons — the details that turn a good deal into a bad one, or the other way round.

Delivery

Free on $35 orders in local delivery areas.

The $35 is counted after discounts and before tax; orders that don't qualify pay a delivery charge starting at $9.95. VIP and Select members get free two-business-day delivery with no minimum on qualifying orders in local delivery areas of the contiguous 48 states, though most furniture, oversized items, bulk cases of drinks, special orders and custom print jobs don't qualify. Same-day delivery through Uber and DoorDash costs $12.99 in select zip codes when you order by 5:00 PM local time.[1, 13, 14, 15]

Store pickup

Free, and ready in 10 minutes or you get $10 off.

If an in-store or curbside pickup order isn't ready 10 minutes after payment is authorized, Office Depot emails a coupon for $10 off a later qualifying purchase within 72 hours. Order at least an hour before closing and bring the confirmation plus a government ID in the same name. Orders not collected within 10 days are cancelled and refunded.[16]

Returns

In any store with the receipt, or by mail with a free label.

Store and online purchases can go back to any Office Depot or OfficeMax store with the original receipt, within the item's return period. Mail returns need an online account: open the order under Order Tracking & History, choose Create Return and print the free label. Card refunds usually appear within 3–5 business days after the warehouse receives the item, and rewards earned on a returned purchase are forfeited.[17, 18, 19]

Returns without a receipt

Government ID, and a Merchandise Card at the 90-day low price.

Ink, toner and supplies returned without the original receipt need a valid government ID. If the item is still in Office Depot's system, the refund is an Office Depot Merchandise Card for its lowest retail price during the preceding 90 days.[17, 20]

Price match

One match per item; Marketplace and holiday sales excluded.

Office Depot won't match Marketplace items sold or shipped by third parties (on its own site or a competitor's), clearance or closeout stock, out-of-stock items, price errors, tax promotions, or holiday sales including Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Competitors' mail-in rebates aren't deducted, and its own online-only or in-store-only specials and Business Select items aren't matched either.[7]

Coupons

Codes go in the cart; tech can be left out.

Online, type the code into the Add Coupon field in your cart. Items such as technology and electronics can be ineligible, so they don't help you reach a coupon's minimum, and a dollar- or percent-off coupon is spread proportionally across the items in your order. In-store-only coupons can't be used on online orders for store pickup, while reward certificates can be used together with coupons.[21, 22, 23, 24, 25]

5 catches in the fine print

Watch out for

Where shoppers lose the saving they thought they had.

  1. Reward certificates expire after 60 days

Each certificate expires 60 days after the day it's issued. Monthly balances under $3 roll over only until the end of the calendar quarter, then lapse.[2]

  2. No purchase that month, no recycling rewards

Cartridges only earn rewards in a month with a $10 qualifying purchase, and only 10 a month count — Office Depot takes extra cartridges but doesn't reward them.[5]

  3. Black Friday prices can't be price-matched

Holiday sale offers, Black Friday and Cyber Monday included, are on the exclusion list, as are third-party Marketplace sellers on Amazon and other competitors' sites.[7]

  4. Select prices don't stack with coupons

Select member prices can't be combined with coupons, instant savings or free-gift offers — you get whichever is the better deal. The $49 fee is nonrefundable and is charged again each year unless you cancel in My Account before the renewal date.[13]

  5. The 20% coupon skips tech and ink

On Office Depot's military page, the 20% off coupon excludes technology and electronics, software, ink and toner, gift cards, appliances, and JanSport and simplehuman products, among others, and doesn't work in clearance or closing stores.[10]

Bring the item and original receipt to any Office Depot or OfficeMax store — online orders included — or start a return from your order history and mail it with the free label. Yes. Amazon.com is on the list with Staples, Target, Walmart and Best Buy, for new, identical, in-stock items at the time of purchase or within 14 days after. Third-party Marketplace items and holiday offers such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday aren't matched.[6, 7]

Members earn 2% back on almost every purchase, and VIP members 5% on ink, toner, paper and copy-and-print services. Rewards arrive as a certificate once you've earned $3, and each certificate expires 60 days after it's issued.[1, 2, 11]
