Etsy Coupon Codes & Smart Ways to Pay Less

On Etsy every shop sets its own prices, codes and shipping, so the savings work shop by shop: the seller's own codes and sales, offers you can make on a listing, and free US shipping from $35 at shops that guarantee it.

Does Etsy have coupon codes?

Two kinds: shop coupons, created by individual sellers and valid only in their own shop, and Etsy coupons, funded by Etsy and sent to certain buyers. Both can have requirements and expiration dates.[1]

Our verdict

Before you check out, look for the shop's own promo code and see whether the listing lets you make an offer. Keep each shop's order at $35 or more for free US shipping where the shop guarantees it — and if an order goes wrong, message the seller first: 48 hours later, Etsy can step in with a full refund on qualifying orders.

Ways to save at Etsy

Ordered by what each is typically worth to a regular shopper — the biggest saving first.

  1. Find the shop's own promo code

5–75% off, or free shippingLow effortAnyone buying from one shop

Etsy sellers create their own promo codes — anywhere from 5% to 75% off, a fixed amount off, or free standard shipping — and share them in their shop announcement, in messages or on social media. A shop code only works in the shop that made it, and the seller can cap how many times it's used and set an end date.[1, 2]

    1. Read the shop's announcement and any messages from the seller for a code.
    2. In your Cart, select Apply coupon code, enter it and select Apply — you need to be signed in.
    3. If the shop is running several promotions, Etsy applies the best one automatically.
  2. Make an offer on listings that allow it

Whatever the seller acceptsSome effortListings with a Make an offer button

Some sellers let you offer a lower price: on Etsy.com you can pick 10%, 15% or 20% off or type your own amount, and if it's below what the seller will accept, you can try again. Once the seller accepts, you have 48 hours to complete the purchase — and until you do, someone else can still buy the item.[1]

  3. Favorite items you're watching — the shop may send a code

A promo code by emailLow effortShoppers who get Etsy marketing emails

Sellers can switch on targeted offers: promo codes Etsy emails automatically to shoppers who've favorited an item, left one in their cart or shown interest, and as a thank-you after a purchase. It's up to each seller whether to run them, you only get them if you've opted in to marketing emails, and only one targeted offer works at a time — if the item is also on sale, the bigger discount applies.[2, 10]

  4. Reach $35 at one shop for free US shipping

Free standard shippingLow effortBuyers in the US

Shops that set up Etsy's free shipping guarantee ship free to US buyers on any item of $35 or more, or any order of $35 or more from that shop — whether the seller is in the US or abroad. It's the seller's choice, so check the listing; shipping upgrades you pick are still charged.[3]

  5. Use an Etsy coupon on top of a shop sale

Two discounts on one orderLow effortBuyers Etsy has sent a coupon

Etsy funds some coupons itself and sends them to certain buyers, often as a percentage off the next purchase. Unlike shop codes, an Etsy coupon can be used together with a shop coupon or a shop sale, works when you pay with a gift card, and often covers items from more than one shop — just not shops that don't accept credit cards.[1]

Etsy coupon codes

Codes and offers kept by David Jones, who lists only codes the store makes public.

Etsy coupons come in two kinds: shop codes, which work only in the shop that made them, and Etsy coupons, which Etsy sends to certain buyers. We list a code here only when Etsy itself makes it public.

6 rules · etsy.com, United States

The rules that decide what you pay

What Etsy says about returns, Purchase Protection, delivery problems, coupons, shipping and gift cards — the details that turn a good deal into a bad one, or the other way round.

Returns

Each seller decides — and doesn't have to accept them.

Sellers aren't required to accept returns, exchanges or refunds unless the return policy on their listing says so, and policies can differ from item to item in the same shop. If a seller agrees to a return, settle the details in a message before you send anything back.[6]

Purchase Protection

A full refund when a qualifying order goes wrong.

Etsy refunds qualifying orders in full if an item doesn't arrive, arrives damaged, arrives 7 or more days after the latest estimated delivery date shown at checkout, or is significantly different from its description or photos. Delays caused by events outside the seller's control, such as carrier strikes or severe weather, don't qualify — nor do orders held up because import charges weren't paid.[4]

Delivery problems

Message the seller first; Etsy steps in 48 hours later.

Start a Help with order request. Once the estimated delivery date has passed and 48 hours have gone by since you contacted the seller, you can open a case — up to 30 days after the estimated delivery date. Refunds through Etsy have to happen within 180 days of the purchase, and if you file a chargeback with your bank or PayPal, you can't open a case.[5]

Coupons

Up to two offers per item, and one must be free shipping.

Codes go in your Cart under Apply coupon code, and you have to be signed in. A shop can give you a price discount and free shipping on the same item, but not two price discounts. Etsy coupons can be added on top of a shop coupon or sale.[1, 2]

Shipping

Each shop sets its own shipping.

Shops with Etsy's free shipping guarantee ship free to US buyers on items or orders of $35 or more; other shops set their own prices or offer free shipping through sales. On international orders, customs duties and import charges are paid by the buyer.[3, 4]

Gift cards

Only at shops that accept credit cards.

Etsy gift cards and credit work only in shops that accept credit cards through Etsy — search with the Accepts Etsy gift cards filter. A balance can't be combined with Apple Pay or Google Pay, so pay the rest by card or PayPal, depending on the shop. Credit from a promotion may have to be used by a set date.[7]

5 catches in the fine print

Watch out for

Where shoppers lose the saving they thought they had.

  1. An accepted offer doesn't hold the item

Other buyers can still buy it until you check out at your accepted price, and you have 48 hours to do so.[1]

  2. Change-of-mind returns aren't guaranteed

Unless the item is missing, damaged, very late or not as described, a return depends entirely on the seller's policy — read it on the listing before you buy.[4, 6]

  3. Don't leave a problem too long

You can open a case for up to 30 days after the estimated delivery date, and Etsy can't support a refund more than 180 days after the purchase.[5]

  4. Guest orders need an account to be protected

You need an Etsy account to ask for help or open a case. If you checked out as a guest, link the order to an account first.[4, 5]

  5. An Etsy Insider preview turns into an annual plan

If you're invited to a 3-month Insider preview and accept, it upgrades to a paid annual membership unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the billing date — and memberships aren't refundable.[8]
