Best Buy Promo Codes, Price Match & Ways to Save

Best Buy runs promo codes only now and then. What works every day: a Price Match Guarantee that covers 19 competitors and its own price drops after you buy, free shipping for signed-in members and cheaper Open-Box stock.

Does Best Buy have promo codes?

Sometimes. Best Buy occasionally runs promotional codes and digital coupons, entered under Payment Method at checkout, and some only work in stores. Member offers and reward certificates sit in your own account and can't be passed to anyone else.[8, 13]

Our verdict

Sign in to a free My Best Buy account before you pay — it removes the $35 free-shipping minimum. Then keep an eye on the price: Best Buy matches its own lower price for your whole return window (15 days, or 60 days for Plus members at $29.99 a year) and matches 19 competitors, including Amazon, Walmart and Target. If you don't need a sealed box, Open-Box Excellent items look new and come with the same return period.

Ways to save at Best Buy

Ordered by what each is typically worth to a regular shopper — the biggest saving first.

  1. Sign in to a free My Best Buy account before you check out

Free standard shipping, no $35 minimumLow effortUS residents of legal age

Without an account, free standard shipping starts at $35, counted after coupons and before tax. Signed-in members of the free My Best Buy tier get free standard shipping with no minimum on qualifying items, plus order tracking in their account. Items sold by Marketplace sellers never ship free, whatever you spend or whichever membership you hold.[5, 6, 7, 9]

    1. Create a free account on BestBuy.com, in the Best Buy app or in a store.
    2. Sign in before you check out so the member shipping applies.
    3. Look for Sold by Best Buy above the Add to cart button — Marketplace items don't qualify.
  2. Ask for the difference if Best Buy cuts its price after you buy

Its new, lower priceLow effortAnyone still inside the return window

The Price Match Guarantee also covers Best Buy's own prices: if it lowers the in-store, online or app price of something you bought during your return and exchange period, it matches the lower price when you ask, and you can ask more than once in that period. The period runs 15 days from the day you receive the item for most products, or 60 days for Plus and Total members. If the price of an item waiting for scheduled delivery drops before its delivery date, Best Buy refunds 100% of the difference, tax included — request it by phone.[1, 2, 4]

    1. Work out your deadline: 15 days after you receive the item, or 60 for Plus and Total members.
    2. Check the item's price on BestBuy.com or in the app now and then.
    3. If it drops, ask through Best Buy chat or 1-888-237-8289 for online orders, or at the Customer Service desk for store purchases.
  3. Show Best Buy a lower price at Amazon, Walmart, Target and other approved stores

The competitor's current priceSome effortNew items sold by Best Buy

Best Buy matches the current price of 19 Qualified Competitors, among them Amazon, Apple, Costco, Home Depot, Target and Walmart. The item has to be new and identical — same brand, model number and color — and available right now from that retailer itself, not from a third-party seller on its site. Best Buy also matches its own online and app prices in stores, and its store prices online.[1, 2, 3]

    1. Find the identical item in stock at a Qualified Competitor.
    2. Online orders: start a Best Buy chat or call 1-888-237-8289 with the link. In a store: show the ad or web page to an employee.
    3. Leave coupons out — Best Buy allows a coupon or a price match on a product, not both.
  4. Buy Open-Box, refurbished or clearance stock

Lower prices on returned and end-of-line itemsLow effortShoppers who don't need a sealed box

Best Buy tests or inspects returned and display items and grades them Excellent, Good or Fair. Excellent items look brand new and include all their parts; Good and Fair items show wear and are sold only in stores or for Store Pickup. Refurbished products are restored to like-new and most carry at least a 90-day warranty (the listing gives the details), while clearance items are new, sealed end-of-line stock. All of them get the normal return period, but none of them can be price matched.[1, 4, 11]

  5. Join My Best Buy Plus if you'll use the returns and points

$29.99 a year: 1% back, 60-day returnsLow effortRegular Best Buy shoppers

Plus costs $29.99 a year and renews automatically. Members earn 0.5 points per $1 (1% back) — every 250 points becomes a $5 reward certificate — and get member prices, free 2-day shipping where available and a 60-day return window on most products. Paying with the My Best Buy Credit Card on Standard Credit adds 5% back, for 6% in total; the card's annual fee is $0–$59 depending on creditworthiness. Cancel within 60 days and you get the fee back, minus the value of any benefits you've used.[5, 6, 8]

  6. Trade in old tech before you buy new

A Best Buy gift card or credit on a purchaseSome effortAdults with eligible used electronics

Best Buy takes eligible used electronics in exchange for a Best Buy gift card or credit on a purchase. The estimate tool at BestBuy.com/TradeIn shows what an item may be worth; the final value depends on age, condition, accessories and resale prices, and isn't negotiable. Online trade-ins ship free but should arrive within 14 days of the estimate, or Best Buy can revise or withdraw it; in-store trade-ins are final once completed.[12]

    1. Get an estimate in the Trade-In tool on BestBuy.com.
    2. Wipe the device, sign out of your accounts and turn off Find My on Apple devices.
    3. Ship it with the free label, or take it with photo ID to a participating store.

Best Buy runs promo codes and digital coupons only from time to time, and member offers and reward certificates belong to your own account. We list only public codes and deals Best Buy shows on bestbuy.com, with their end dates.

6 rules · bestbuy.com, United States

The rules that decide what you pay

What Best Buy says about shipping, store pickup, returns, restocking fees, refunds and price match — the details that turn a good deal into a bad one, or the other way round.

Shipping

Free standard shipping from $35, or on any order for signed-in members.

The $35 is counted after coupons and before tax, and leaves out some digital downloads, e-gift cards, special orders, specialty items and scheduled-delivery items. Free next-day shipping covers thousands of items in some areas, with the $35 minimum waived only for Plus and Total members, who also get free 2-day shipping where it's offered. Marketplace items never ship free.[9]

Store pickup

Free, and held for 5 days.

Choose Store Pickup at checkout, wait for the separate Ready for pickup email, and bring photo ID and your order number. Items your store doesn't have can be shipped there free, usually in 3–7 business days (not Marketplace items, music, DVDs or video games). Orders left more than 5 days are cancelled and refunded unless you choose an extended pickup option.[10]

Returns

15 days for most products; 60 days for Plus and Total members.

The clock starts the day you receive the item, and the same windows apply to new, clearance, open-box, refurbished and pre-owned products. Cell phones, cellular tablets, hotspots and cellular wearables have 14 days for everyone (Verizon devices 30). Return in any Best Buy store, or ship it back free with a prepaid FedEx label — except major appliances, TVs over 50 inches, kegerators and SodaStream makers.[4]

Restocking fees

$45 or 15% on some opened items.

Activatable devices other than prepaid phones carry a $45 fee; drones, digital cameras, lenses, camcorders, projectors and screens, premium scooters, special orders and a few other categories cost 15% of the price. There's no fee if the item is unopened, or on purchases in AL, CO, HI, IA, MS, OH, OK and SC.[4]

Refunds

Back to the way you paid.

Mail returns are processed within 7–10 business days of arriving, and your bank can take up to 10 more days. Cash over $800, or checks and debit cards without a major card logo over $250, are refunded by check; whatever you paid with a Best Buy gift card comes back as a new gift card. Return only part of a bundle and you lose the bundle discount or free item.[4]

Price match

One match per item, on the pre-tax price, for new items sold by Best Buy.

It doesn't cover Marketplace sellers, clearance, open-box, refurbished or pre-owned items, member-only or loyalty prices, financing, bundles, coupons, or limited-quantity and out-of-stock items. Warehouse club prices that need a login to see can only be matched in a store, against the live offer.[1, 2]

Nov

When to shop at Best Buy

Sale events from Best Buy's own pages, each under the months it runs.

  • November

    Black Friday

Best Buy's Black Friday page names November 27 for its 2026 sale. Competitor price matching pauses from the Thursday before Thanksgiving through the Monday after (Nov 19–30, 2026).[1, 14]

5 catches in the fine print

Watch out for

Where shoppers lose the saving they thought they had.

  1. No competitor matching over Thanksgiving week

From the Thursday before Thanksgiving through the Monday after, Best Buy won't match Qualified Competitors' prices, and its exclusions also list competitors' items marked as Black Friday pricing. Plan any competitor match outside those dates.[1, 2]

  2. Marketplace items miss most perks

Products sold and shipped by third-party sellers on BestBuy.com don't get free shipping, the 60-day member return window or price matching. The seller's name appears above the Add to cart button.[2, 4, 6, 9]

  3. Opening a camera or phone can cost you

Return an opened drone, camera, lens, projector or similar item and 15% of the price comes off, or $45 for an activatable device, unless you bought it in one of the states that exempt you. Make sure it's the right model before you open the box.[4]

  4. Reward certificates don't wait

Certificates typically expire 60 days after they're issued and can't be turned back into points or replaced once expired. Plus and Total members without the credit card also have their points converted into certificates automatically around March 1 each year.[7, 8]

  5. Coupons don't come back

A digital coupon is used up when you order: it isn't replaced if you cancel or return, and if the price falls below its value the extra isn't refunded. Promotional certificates are also lost when you return what you bought with them.[7, 13]
